Cruise on Lake Saimaa in Mikkeli, Finland

We had an opportunity to treat the children with a two-hour-cruise on lake Saimaa. The day before the children learned about the route and its attractions, and it was nice to try to spot the already familiar places along the way. The weather pampered us, as you can see, and we all enjoyed the cruise. Also our mascot Väinö was with us but this time he escaped from our cameras.
Leaving the harbour, the silhouette of Mikkeli.
On board of the ship.
Best mates.
Cows on the field.
A summer cottage with its sauna.
The old vicarage. Nowadays a major tourist attraction in Mikkeli.

Otava's Final Event

On Thursday, 23 May the pupils and their families celebrated the end of our successful project in the harbour of Otava. We were happy to welcome also our friends from Holbeach Primary to take part in the activities.

The evening began with a choir performance, and then we plunged into the world of magic. After that we split up all around the harbour: we got to explore the fire engine, did some tasks with the scouts, had a quiz trail, explored the secrets of fishing, tried to see how good you are at shooting a  floorball, and of course, ate hot sausages. The weather turned a little dull towards the evening, but we had a lot of fun!.

Hadwalunia is travelling to Romania

Hi Everyone!

We are so sorry that the project is coming to the end. Our doll is really upset....
On the other hand she is so ecxited  about her next journey. Sha was checking which countries she has to go across to reach Romania and Galati. The students of IVA and IVB class helped her and also have prepared some letters to their Romanian friends. In the end they wished her a pleasant and safe journey and unforgettable memories. See you there!!!

Holbeach played the geography board games

The board games were really popular among the pupils in Holbeach. Here are some children in year 6S enjoying them.

They were a lot of fun, and other classes thought so too.

Mmmm... delicious

In Otava school we tested today recipe sent from Romania. Also Cyprus sent almost similar recipe that included salmon, vegetables and rice. Romanian recipe included also coriander that isn't often used with fish here in Finland, but this spice tasted very good. Our school canteen made fish and vegetables very tasty.
