Romania: Good Manners Guide

On April 4, 2013, students from three classes (5B, 8A, 8B) and four teachers (Georgiana Munteanu, Viorica Calugaru, Silvia Matei, Maria Moraru) visited the Laboratory for water quality research in Galati. The scientists working in this institution offered detailed explanations on the up-to-date devices used in the lab, they presented some experiments, they told the students about the surface water monitoring techniques, the ways to find out and stop pollutants. The children could see micro-organisms and impurities in some water samples through the microscope and they understood how dangerous some categories of pollutants can be and how devastating effects they have for the health of both people and environment.

As a result of this visit the students realised that water is the most important life sustaining element, they were ready to make a list of ways to protect it and create a “Good Manners Guide to preserve water”.
